Preparing your roof for painting

Our team have years of experience in painting iron roofs in the Auckland region and we undertake a robust preparation and painting process.

This includes pressure washing and sterilising the roof to remove moss and mould and applying an anti-rust primer to all uncoated areas.

Our Process

• Preparation and Restoration: We begin by meticulously examining and securing fixings, replacing any that are worn or damaged. Additionally, all ridges, flashings, and valleys undergo necessary repairs or replacements to ensure structural integrity.
• Roof Cleaning: A thorough pressure cleaning is essential to eliminate all debris, ensuring optimal conditions for the application of the roof coating system. Additionally, exterior surfaces undergo a gentle wash to clear gutters of any unwanted materials.
• Rust Treatment: Any areas affected by rust are treated with a specialized rust converter. Our advanced, quick-drying anti-rust products are employed to effectively halt corrosion and uphold the integrity of the roof.
• Repairs: We begin by meticulously examining and securing fixings, replacing any that are worn, damaged or rusted. Additionally, all ridges, flashings, and valleys undergo necessary repairs or replacements to ensure structural integrity.  
• Application of Sealer or Primer Coat: Based on the surface and substrate of your roof, we will recommend either an appropriate acrylic or solvent-based system to serve as a sealer or primer coat, ensuring optimal adhesion and protection.
• Application of Top Coats: The final step involves applying two coats of our 100% acrylic roof paint, available in your choice of satin or gloss finish and tailored to your preferred color scheme.
